• The Need to Shred: These birds have a biological drive to rip and tear. They must have access to fresh logs, thick branches, and pine cones daily. This “destructive” play is essential for their mental health and beak maintenance.

• Massive Aviary Requirements: Due to their size and slow-flapping flight style, they require a very large flight space. They do not thrive in standard parrot cages and should ideally be kept in large outdoor aviaries.

• High-Fat Diet: They require a diet rich in healthy fats. In addition to high-quality pellets, they need a variety of nuts (Macadamias, almonds, walnuts) and native Australian vegetation.
